The Young Writers Awards by St. Louis Writers Guild were started in 2011 to continue the legacy of encouraging tomorrow's authors. The story prompt this year was “A strange noise…”
This year we're excited to announce all the Winners and Finalists will be published in a collection. The Young Writers Awards Collection is in response to multiple requests to give everyone the feeling of not only having their story honored, but also published.
The St. Louis Writers Guild (SLWG) was founded in 1920 by members of the Missouri Writers Guild. By the end of the decade, SLWG was one of the preeminent writers’ organizations in the Midwest. In 1935, a young Tennessee Williams won the yearly short story contest. Membership has expanded through the years, along with programming, benefits, and opportunities for its members. SLWG still holds the core belief of our founders: We are writers helping other writers. “You have friends here.”
