Our Monthly Workshop is held in conjunction with the SLWG’s regular membership meeting on the first Saturday of every month at Barnes & Noble in Crestwood from 10 AM until noon. Admission is free to members. This workshop is usually taught by a published author or other publishing expert. On occasion a special program may be provided by a member writer who is willing to share special insights on a topic about which he or she has established expertise. All are welcome to attend SLWG monthly workshops. There is a modest $5 charge for non-members, which can be fully credited toward membership dues if the attendee subsequently decides to join the Guild for the first time within one month following the workshop (at or before the next following first Saturday). Members of the Writers’ Society of Jefferson County may attend SLWG’s regular monthly workshops at no charge if they register at least one week in advance by emailing workshops@stlwritersguild.org.
The regular monthly workshop is held in a meeting room at the Barnes and Noble bookstore on Watson Road (across from Crestwood Plaza shopping mall) on the 1st Saturday of every month from 10 AM until noon.
Members gather in the Barnes & Noble cafe beginning about 45 minutes prior to every workshop for friendship and networking. All are welcome.
Note: Board Meetings are usually scheduled at 1 PM immediately following the regular workshop meeting. To submit suggestions and other business to the SLWG Board, contact any officer or email the president.

A series of Community Workshops is usually scheduled three times a year (spring, summer, and fall) with workshops held in various locations within the Greater St. Louis area. These workshops are offered through a special partnership between St. Louis Writers Guild and ST. LOUIS WRITERS WORKSHOP,
a company devoted to promoting excellence and professional success in writing. Focus is on particular genres or on solving typical challenges writers face in starting and completing a literary project. The workshops are taught by the highly accomplished authors, editors, and writing coaches of the St. Louis Writers Workshop, many of whom hold MFA degrees or other distinguished publishing credentials. Some are experts with specialized skills and professional backgrounds in writing, publishing, and promotion. Community workshops usually meet once a week for two hours and usually continue for six or eight weeks, although programs vary.
