SLWG Contests
Three times a year the Guild hosts writing contests. The annual Deane Wagner Poetry Contest is held in the spring; the St. Louis Writers Guild Annual Short Story Contest is held in the fall; and the kids' contest is also held in the spring and summer. Read about our connection to Tennessee Williams on the Short Story Contest page. SLWG also offers short-run, minor writing contests — some of which are only open to members. All the contests offer recognition, publication, and prizes.

You do not need to be a member of SLWG in order to participate in the poetry, short story, and kids' contests. We receive short story and poetry contest entries from across the U.S. and abroad.
