Attention: About SLWG Events

For those of you that will be attending IN-PERSON, workshops will follow the 2/28/22 St. Louis County Health Advisory. MASKS ARE OPTIONAL and we will not collect attendee information for contact tracing. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you. We will provide hand sanitizer stations throughout the room. We will also be social distancing the chairs and tables as well as asking everyone to participate in contact tracing (meaning we will require your contact information so we can keep you informed if there is new information available about the status of attendees’ health). NO FOOD OR DRINKS will be provided at the workshops.

For those of you who CANNOT attend in-person, we will continue our practice of hosting the monthly workshops through Zoom (except for our December children’s workshop). Continue to use the link provided in Here’s News or the teal event button on our website.

Please contact us at president@stlwritersguild.org if you have any questions. Do not contact the Lodge Des Peres as they do not have information on our meetings and policies. Please keep in mind we are a nonprofit organization run by VOLUNTEERS and may not be able to answer your question right away.

The virtual workshops are FREE for both members and non-members. Beginning in June, recordings of these events, as well as previous audio recordings of workshops, can be accessed through the members-only portal of our website.

Please stay safe and healthy during this difficult time.

and
The Workshop Archive

Workshops for Writers | 10am to Noon | Free to attend

Held monthly on the first Saturday of the month. SLWG uses Zoom to stream and record each meeting. Links to Workshops for Writers and the other SLWG Events can be found above or on the Events Page. Workshops are on various topics from writing, publishing, and marketing, to industry insights. Workshops are in-person and online. Members, share your news and events, plus sell your books at the SLWG Book table.

The Workshop Archive | Members Only

Each workshop that SLWG is permitted to record will be posted in the workshop archive, so if you miss the monthly meeting or want to go back and hear it again, the workshops will be there. It usually takes a week to get the video online. Videos are available as long as there is storage space and permission, they can be taken down at anytime. The password is the same as the Members’ Room.

Contests

St. Louis Writers Guild Contests.

St. Louis Writers Guild holds at least three writing contests every year. Our Short Story Contest has been held since 1920, and was even won by Tennessee Williams in 1935. The Deane Wagner Poetry Contest has been held since 1994 and was named to honor a dedicated St. Louis Poet. The Young Writers Awards is SLWG’s way of encouraging young writers.
